TWO FRIENDS, ONE VISION

Picture this: it is 2001, on a Saturday afternoon. Kacie is in the upstairs bathroom at Marie's parents' house, sitting patiently while Marie curls her hair and applies copious amounts of white eyeliner and some shimmery eyeshadow. Dream Matte mousse foundation and Lip Smackers are scattered all over the counter.

It is Kacie's first official date as a teenager.

Marie is not a make-up artist - she still barely wears any - but that isn't the point.

This is the start of the journey to Solmira Wellness Collective.

Those 14 & 15 year old girls are now almost 40, with years and years of life between them - with experiences that would make even the most hardened person pause for a deep breath.

But through those years is a thread. The thread is thick in some places - like when Marie was teaching yoga in the space next to the Catalyst Wellness Big Bend location; it is thin is some places - like when they lived across the country from each other. It is knotted and frayed in some places, but it has never completely broken.

In early 2025, Kacie approached Marie during one of her chiropractic treatments about her vision for a bigger space, full of life and humming with energy from multiple modalities of treatment that look at the whole person, instead of just microcosms of the human body. Marie said yes without hesitation.

After 25 years of friendship and 2.5 months of painting and building repairs, and help from so many people, that little nugget of a vision has come to life. Aside from dreams being achieved, a sense of "oh, now it makes sense" has fallen over these two friends. They had to go through the ups and downs and thin spots to find themselves individually in a way that combining their skills and hearts on this project made sense.

We are still in the throes of a fresh opening, and there is so much to do, but we will be using this blog to share everything from helpful tips to new developments - and all the lessons and triumphs we have yet to weave into that thread of friendship.
